Our Firm
CPA Legal is a law firm specializing in corporate and regulatory matters for domestic and foreign clients, born from the alliance between prominent lawyers José Antonio Gómez (former Minister of Justice and Defense and former Senator) and Juan Carlos Manríquez (who has led the law firm Manríquez Benavides y Cía. www.mbcia. cl), founding partners with extensive experience in the public and private sectors, who, with the entry into force of Law 21,595 on Economic and Environmental Crimes, joined forces to provide adequate responses to the new legal landscape and the significant challenges faced by both companies and their corporate governance in our country, as well as decentralized public services in their interaction with the private sector, providing them with expert and highly qualified advice, with a comprehensive and multidisciplinary approach that efficiently addresses the various complexities presented by each type of industry.
To achieve this goal, the firm decided to expand into corporate, environmental, and administrative law, directly incorporating issues of public management, administrative law, and litigation. To this end, it brought on Pedro Neira Asenjo, a lawyer with an outstanding track record in senior executive positions and corporate governance, with experience in environmental law. The firm then brought in Felipe Lizama Allende, a lawyer and academic in constitutional and administrative law at the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH) and the University for Development (UDD), who also has extensive experience in civil and administrative litigation.
Later, Mauricio Oviedo Gutiérrez, a lawyer with a master’s degree in public law from the University of Concepción, joined as a senior advisor.
He was the former president and presiding judge of the First Environmental Court between 2017 and 2023 and a former lawyer in the legal division of the Environmental Assessment Service.
In the Compliance Area, Sonia Esturillo Herrera, an accountant and auditor with a master’s degree from the University of Chile, and Raúl Muñoz Valle, an accountant and auditor with an MBA and a master’s degree from the Catholic University, both with outstanding professional careers at the corporate level, joined the team.
With this merger, CPA Legal has now become a law firm specializing in compliance and anti-corruption, with a focus on the prevention and resolution of conflicts and highly complex issues, providing advisory, preventive, and litigation services to private corporations, public sector institutions, and municipalities in various areas of public law, namely constitutional, administrative, and criminal law (administrative sanctioning procedures, audits, and legal proceedings for economic and environmental crimes, as well as those committed by public officials).
